Pro Tools 7.4 is the main DAW used for recording and mixing but have others available for cross formatting purposes. Our beats are made on a host of programs from Ableton Live 7 To Reason 4 .
People always ask why don't I have hardware instruments. The answer is simple I can get any sound I want from software and save hours of production time using software editors.
I currently monitor with the Alesis Mk1 II and mix on the Yamaha Hs 50's running through the M-box pro pro tools interface. My favorite mic for vocals is the Studio projects C 3 which basically is the best mic in my opinion.
My mic pre is the Art Pro channel which also to me sounds as good as the Avalon when tuned right. I choose my equipment based on quality not name but of course budget also played a role.
I also use a custom made power conditioner made by AV Washington to filter out unwanted noise and give me a smooth signal flow. My studio has been treated for sound monitoring With Auralex acoustic foam and also has a closed in sound booth for background noise isolation and privacy when recording vocalsRates
